June 10-13, 2024 | 1pm-3pm
These camps provide students with an opportunity to meet other local gamers, play with teammates in-person, and engage in team building. In addition, these camps will instruct students on esports fundamentals, improving their mental and physical health as a gamer, and how to clean and maintain their gaming equipment. A: Great question! This camp offers a unique opportunity to connect and compete side by side with other local gamers while receiving quality instruction from collegiate esports coaches.
Q: How is practicing esports different from playing video games?
A: What distinguishes practice from play is the intentional pursuit of improvement.
Q: I've never played Fortnite before, can I still participate?
A: Prior experience is recommended but not required. Fortnite is free to play, so feel free to register for the camp now and familiarize yourself with the game before camp begins.
Q: Will I just be playing video games the whole time?
A: No. A key component of this camp are coaching and discussion sessions that will take place outside of the video game.
Q: I play Fortnite on Playstation/Xbox, can I still sign up?
A: Yes! We have mice and keyboards available, but if you want to play on a controller you will need to bring your own controller & controller cable that can connect to a PC with you to the camp and we’ll help you get it connected to our PCs.
Q: Do I need to create a game account?
A: Yes. Bring your Epic Games account login info with you. You can create one for free here: https://www.epicgames.com/id/register
Q: What if I have more questions?
A: Contact Coach Prescott at cole.prescott@nwciowa.edu
